Structural studies under blast
Project : Research and test building, international collaboration
Mission: Study of the structure subjected to the severe loading of the explosion, reinforced concrete dimensioning according to the methodology of the UFC 3-340-02 reference, structural verification by finite element modelling and fast dynamic calculations.
The project concerns a test facility developed jointly by the French and British governments. Sixense necs participated in the project during the APS, APD and EXE phases.
The service consisted of carrying out and verifying the design of the structure under severe blast loading. The mission followed the following steps:
- Pre-dimensioning according to the semi-empirical methodology of the UFC 3-340-02 reference
- Advice on the predefined squaring of the structural elements and definition of their current reinforcement
- 3D numerical modelling using volumetric finite elements,
- Explosion calculations using fast dynamic analysis,
- Post-processing: envelope maps of displacements, deformations, stresses, concrete damage, reinforcement plasticization zones, shear forces on element supports, verification of reinforcement and rotations at the foot of elements, dynamic pressure profile curves, shock spectrum calculations, etc.
